The mood was somber at Oliver's apartment as we waited for the others. Oliver started cooking, which seemed to be his go to for comfort lately. He placed a plate of spaghetti down in front of Juliana, and she smiled up at him in thanks. Then he plated some for me, and I lifted an eyebrow at him. He shrugged and slid the plate over to me. We ate in silence, each of us in our own thoughts. Oliver had taken the news in stride, probably knowing as well as I did, that Beatrix wouldn't give her a choice. Not a real one, anyway.

"So," Oliver said as he rinsed the plates. "Where did Alex and Tristan go if they came back with you?"

Juliana picked at her cuticles as she pulled in a breath. "I told them I had to talk to Jacob. I'm not sure, Tristan said he had something he had to do really fast, and Alex said something about finding Gage."

"You're good with those two?" Oliver asked.

"Gage and Alexander?" she asked with a laugh.

"Yeah," he said.

"Of course. They both love me, but that doesn't eliminate emotions for other people. That's silly and selfish to think that way. If you wanted—"

"Uh, no, I've only got eyes for you," he said, not even letting her finish her sentence.

"Well, as Gage would say, we are family, a pack. If you change your mind and find a different kind of love in our group, it's okay. It won't hurt my feelings. I know you all love me." She smiled over the counter at him.

"You don't think it's cheating?"

"Do you think me being with all of you is cheating?" She laughed and pushed a stray hair behind her ear. I could see that she was almost afraid that he would say yes. Even with her knowledge of our feelings, there was a part of her that was fearful of that rejection.

He came around the island and cradled her face in his before he said, "Absolutely not. I enjoy watching you be pleasured by the others." He placed a soft kiss on her upturned nose before stepping back from her. She grinned and then looked over at me.

"Jacob, you too, you know," she said.

"I know. But you have my heart, I might dabble in the physical every once in a while, but you are the one. You always will be, Cupcake," I said honestly. Yeah, sex with a man felt good every now and then, and I couldn't deny that I loved the others. It just wasn't the same intensity I felt for Juliana.

"You know, Gage and Alex having feelings for each other, it takes nothing away from me," she said. "The heart has a large capacity for love, and everyone should feel as much of it as they possibly can."

"That wasn't what I meant by my words," I explained.

"Okay, just making sure," she said.

Our conversation had taken our attention off of the elephant in the room. That in a little over a week, we either needed a solution to the problem of Juliana killing one of us or one of us would die.
